T O P I C R E V I E WusafspaceI'm looking for a really good Apollo 11 lunar module (LM-5) model. Is the Revell Apollo 11 Lunar Module LM-5 1:32 model kit a good one? How difficult is it to build? onesmallstepUnfortunately, there is no 1:32 Revell LM model that is a companion to their 1:32 Command/Service Module. Only 1:100, 1:96 and the popular 1:48 scale versions, which has seen many iterations and packaging under both Monogram (with the astronauts, science experiments and lunar surface base) and Revell. There is an EduCraft Diversions 1:32 model of the LM-5, a heavy paper stock kit. Comes complete with 50 pre-printed sheets, and a CD with instructions, history and photos. The company consulted original Grumman blueprints and contractor scale models.usafspaceThanks so much for all of that great information. It looks really nice. My problem is time and lack of... How much do you think a good fair price would be to pay someone to build that kit? Is there someone on the board that is very good at building models and wants to earn some cash? Thank you for your time and wealth of knowledge.rlobinskeThe classic Monogram (now Revell) 1/48 First Lunar Landing kit is still a great kit that can be improved with the New Ware H Mission upgrade set and MESA set. SpaceModelSystems decals are also a great enhancement. In the last couple of years, Dragon has released 1/48 and 1/72 LM kits. On the plus side, the foils on the descent stage are molded in, but there are a number of accuracy issues that mar the kits.history in miniatureThis is the Monogram kit with the added New Ware detail set that belongs to a fellow cS member. There are a few of us here who build professionally. Daugherty54I can promise you, anything built by Stephen Nichols (History in Miniature) is outstanding. I have a 1/20 scale F-1 rocket engine that is a work of art. His 1/6 moonwalker is perhaps my favorite piece. Pascal Hecker is also a gifted modeler. I know there are more, but I can personally vouch for these two.usafspace quote:Originally posted by history in miniature:There are a few of us here who build professionally. May I ask you to please email me? I think I might have a job for you. history in miniatureI appreciate your interest in my work but unfortunately at this moment I can't take any new work. I might suggest Pascal a good friend and fantastic modeler who may be able to help you out.Lunokhod 2I have designed a 1/32 plastic model of the LM. The instructions for building it are available here. All parts are 3D printed and are available on Shapeways. The address for each part is given in the instructions. Currently the G, H and J versions of the LM models can be built as long as you do not want to model the interior of the ascent stage which I am currently working on.
